Proprio prima che gli Athlete suonassero come supporto per gli U2, ad Amsterdam, Olanda, abbiamo fatto una grandiosa intervista con Joel e Carey in un bar ad Amsterdam. La band ha fatto alcuni show con gli U2 e furono molto felici che Bono in persona gli abbia chiesto di suonare con loro. Joel spiega inoltre il testo della canzone 'Wires'.

Toazted ha intervistato Carey e Steve degli Athlete nell' aprile 2005. La band stava per suonare al The Milkyway, ad Amsterdam, Olanda. Abbiamo chiesto loro cosa sia successo dopo i due anni in tour, delle registrazioni del nuovo disco e del suo successo.

"Athlete itself formed about 6 years ago. We met as school boys and as friends. We played around and started playing for people."

Toazted ha intervistato tutta la band sui loro esordi nel Sud Est di Londra.

"We had a Britpop kind of punky sound which we got bored of and then we got a bit of interest from a few record companies and we just thought "Is this really the kind a music that we want to be known for?" and we were like "no" so we just bought a little 12 track recorder and started writing some new songs."

Abbiamo fatto un' intervista con gli Athlete per spiegare il loro sound unico.
"When we got together we were into Britpop, but now were into Stevie Wonder and De La Soul. Our grooves are seventies-ish, our quirky stuff is eighties. We' re groove based like hip hop and we all sing on the choruses."
